The final match of Wimbledon took place: main details

On July 14, the final match of Wimbledon took place. Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, the third racket of the world, and Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, the second number of the ATP ranking, met on the court.

The 21-year-old won with a score of 6:2, 6:2, 7:6 (4). Thus, Alcaraz became the first Spaniard to win two Wimbledons in a row. Last year, he beat Djokovic.

Alcaraz has never lost a final at a Slam. He reached the final for the first time at the US Open 2022, defeating Norway’s Kasper Ruud in the title match. His second TBS final was at Wimbledon 2023.  Despite winning the title this year, he will remain third in the ATP rankings.

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, 24-time winner of Grand Slam tournaments, spoke about the game of Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz:

“I was losing to him, he was better. He wouldn’t let me get easy points on my serve. I’ve never seen him serve like that, that fast. He actually outplayed me. He was just better than me in every aspect of the game.

If someone had told me three weeks ago that I would be playing in the Wimbledon final, I would have agreed to it. In the end it has to be a success for me and my team,” Djokovic told a press conference. Despite the defeat, the 37-year-old Djokovic will remain the world number two ranked player.

At the end, Novak Djokovic received the prize for the Wimbledon final from the hands of Princess Catherine of Wales. She has been the patron of the All England Club since 2016, with the responsibility of presenting the winner’s trophy after each men’s and women’s singles final.
